Cultural Interests and Activities
A) Riverway and Riverway Arts Centre.
Riverway is a river based area with swimming lagoons, the Tony Ireland Stadium and the Riverway Arts Centre.It was created for Townsville residents to have a good place to enjoy outdoor living.
B) Castle Hill
Castle Hill is one of the major landforms and tourist sights of Townsville. Castle Hill is home to 'The Saint' which was painted in 1962 by some university students as a prank. Castle Hill also has the Goat Track, a walking track up to the top of the hill.
C) Murray Sporting Complex
Murray Sporting Complex contains many different sports fields/courts and caters for the sporting community of Townsville.
D) The Strand
The Strand is a long, beautiful beach and is one of Townsville's most popular tourist attractions.
E) Civic Theatre
The Civic Theatre is Townsville's main theatre and is used by many different communities within Townsville such as schools for important events, and acting companies when performing.
F) Palleranda
Palleranda is another of Townsville's beaches and is a popular spot for parasailing and taking pets.
G) Magnetic Island
Magnetic Island is a large island off the coast of Townville. It is a popular holiday destination for travellers and locals alike. It contains many walking tracks and beautiful beaches.
H) James Cook University
James Cook University, or JCU as it's known, is Townsville's only university.
I) Townsville Hospital
